Belt Buckle Pendant, Made From an Antique Enameled Brass French Belt Buckle K0392

This beautiful pendant is made from half of an antique French brass belt buckle that features an ornate enameled design in red, white, blue, and black glass enamel. It measures 1 3/4in X 1 1/2in.

A lot of these buckles were made in Europe in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. The buckle pieces were usually stamped or cast, and then an artist would fill all the depressions with colorful combinations of glass enamel. This style of enameling was known as champleve.

To make the pendant, I remove any protrusions, and then carefully bend part of the buckle hardware to make a bail. I like to leave some of the buckle hardware on the back, so that you can remember its origins! Since this is a real, vintage item, there may be a few scratches and scuffs, and some minor chipping and crazing of the enamel. Consider it part of its vintage charm!
